December 6th  BHSFP 31 v 7 Strabane

Tries : C James, G Adams, J Frampton, I Elliot

Conversions : P Taylor 4

Penalties : P Taylor 1

On a cold blustery day the match got underway watched by a significant crowd of supporters who had turned up to support BHSFP following the cancellation of the 2nd XV game against Academy. And what a cracking start it was. Within 1 minute of the referees whistle Colin James crossed the Strabane line for what seemed like a good try but unfortunately it was disallowed.
High School continued to push Strabane all the way in the opening quarter but stout defence managed to ensure no score during this period. Things changed however on 23 minutes when High School were awarded a penalty in front of the posts which gave Pete Taylor the easiest of opportunities to start the points ticking over . It was only a matter of time given such a period of sustained pressure.
This was followed shortly after by the first try of the game which came from a superb break on the half way line by Jordan Frampton. The ball was moved sweetly to Colin James who ran in the try. Just reward for the earlier disallowed effort. The conversion by Pete Taylor was successful.
High School were on the offensive and were playing some great rugby when the next try came. Phil McKeown started the move shifting the ball quickly wide to Jordan Frampton who scored in the corner . PeteTaylor with the "Beckhamesque" boots once again put the conversion over.

HALF TIME BHSFP 17 V STRABANE 0

The second half started in much the same way as the first finished with High School taking the initiative. Great work by the back row of David Wright , Alistair Best and Mark Lambe ensured a plentiful supply of ball for the backs to conjure up some magic. The large crowd were treated to some excellent play which resulted in the next try by Gareth Adams. The ball emerged from a loose ruck on the Strabane 22 and was moved left to Gareth who needed no second invitation. Pete Taylor again converted bring the scoreto 24 - 0.
At this stage High School tended to let things slip slightly and were guilty of trying too hard. A number of opportunities were missed partly through panicky handling and over elaboration. However, High School were in the driving seat and on 65 minutes the ball was quickly moved left from the base of a scrum on the Strabane 22. A short pass to Ian Elliott saw him crash through the Strabane defence and sail over for the try. Pete Taylor again stepped up to the mark bring the score to 31 - 0.
This was High School back in the groove following last weeks lacklustre performance but unfortunately as so often happens when one team is so dominant the defences slipped at the end of the game allowing Strabane to score a well taken try from a rumbling forward move. The conversion was good.
This was another victory which will ensure High School will be in where it counts when the daffodils emerge in the Spring.
