Strabane 15 V BHSFP 34

Once again the High School team and band of Alikadoo’s were on the road heading on this occasion to Strabane for an important league game. This match had to be won to maintain the current winning form. Unfortunately traffic diversions again caused delay and while the game started only a few minutes late there was little time for pre match preparation.
Strabane started the game on the attack pressurising the High School line and after 10 minutes were awarded a penalty 20 metres out. The penalty was successful and at this point High School were not playing well with mistakes and unforced errors abounding. The game was predominantly played in the High School half but after 15 minutes the first scoring opportunity came for BHS through a penalty . The penalty was missed but it was significant that it was awarded after an excellent catch and drive from a line out . Perhaps things were improving ?
Soon after, continued good play from Strabane resulted in a line out on the High School 22 metre Line. Strabane made a clean catch and were able to break through the High School defence to score a well taken try. The try was converted.
At this point High School seemed to shake off the cobwebs and start playing decent rugby. A penalty ensued which was unfortunately missed. However , it was clear that High School were coming back into the game and following pressure on the Strabane line they were awarded a free kick 10 metres out. There was no stopping Brian McGreal who received a short pass and charged over the Strabane line to score. The conversion was missed.

A good half time talk appeared to do the trick as soon after the restart whistle High School moved into the Strabane half and were awarded a scrum on the 10 metre line. The ball was picked up and moved left to Gareth Adams who went over for an excellent try. The conversion was missed.
Shortly after this Strabane were awarded a dubious penalty which was missed.
	High School were now back in the groove and were playing as they had been the previous week. The loose forwards were starting to dominate that aspect of play with the front five taking over control of the scrums , Lineouts were working well with Mark Lamb to the fore.
High School continued to dominate the loose play and in the area of the Strabane 10 yard line the ball was moved left to Ian Elliott who seared through the Strabane defence to make the touchdown. The try was Converted by Pete Taylor .
From the resultant restart High School immediately went on the attack. The ball was received and switched to the right and left. A good break by Phil McKeown created mayhem in the Strabane defence . Johnny Territt received the ball and crashed over for the try. The conversion was missed.
By this stage the High School backs were in full control and were demonstrating what they could do with ball in hand. The pack continued to provide good possession and through the excellent service of Jonny Mayne they were able to run at Strabane from all angles.
The next try came from the High School 22. A short kick followed by a move again to the left allowed Gareth Adams to score his second from a long run in . The try was converted by Pete Taylor.
Continued all round good play meant that High School were now well ahead in the game but needed to keep up the pressure in order to make absolutely sure of the points. The final try of the day to High School came from a set scrum on the Strabane 22 . For a change the ball was moved to the right , a mis move ensued and once again Brian McGreal crashed over for the try. The conversion was missed.
With 8 minutes to go Brian McGreal harshly received a yellow card but was happy with his two tries and an afternoon of solid work.
With a man down High School conceded a try almost at the end of the game .
This was a good performance in the end after a poor start - the team now looks forward to a home game against Newry , another must win game.
